There’s Been A New Dinosaur Discovery!

This new dinosaur who’s fossils have been discovered is different than the rest by a long shot!  It’s a vegetarian animal that’s about 6.5 ft long, BUT has a SWORD for a tail!  It roamed the earth between 71.7 million and 74.9 million years ago.  Bony structures called osteoderms covered the back and sides of the dinosaur.  Researchers even compared the tail to an Aztec sword.

These peculiar tailed dinosaurs belonged to the Ankylosaur family and dominated sub-antarctic Chile.  It goes by the name…”Stegouroselengassen”.

Well, it’s time to meet the dinosaur with a tail to kill: Stegouros elengassen!

Genus, Stegouros comes from Greek, where 'stego' means roof, and 'uros' translates to tail. The species name—elengassen—means an armoured beast, derived from Aónik'enk mythology.
